The wisdom of Rumi

Bismillah...

There’s a strange frenzy in my head, of birds flying,
each particle circulating on its own.
Is the one I love everywhere?

- Rumi

Peace is the way

Bismillah...

And the servants of the Beneficent Allah
are they who walk on the earth in humbleness,
and when the ignorant address them,
they say: Peace.

Quran 25:63

Gaining A Better Understanding of Islam - Educational Video

Bismillah

This video was put out by the Chicago Police Department to help their officers be respectful and considerate around people who are often culturally diverse. Everyone can benefit from it though, even I, a Muslim convert, learned a few things.

Rumi's wisdom

Bismillah.....

Let the lover be disgraceful, crazy,
absentminded. Someone sober
will worry about things going badly.
Let the lover be.

The Hadith of Gabriel

Bismillah

When Gabriel, in the form of a human being, asked Muhammad (peace be upon him) what ihsan (doing what is beautuful) was, he replied: "Ihsan means to worship God as if you see Him, if you do not see Him He sees you."

Ya Allah!

Are you up to the challenge?

Bismillah

Allah gave us this earth so we must be its caretakers rather than those who destroy it.

Ingrid Mattson's talk

Bismillah Ar-Rahman Ar-Rahim
In the Name of God, Infinitely and Tenderly Compassionate and Merciful

I thanked Ingrid Mattson in my first post to this blog for the inspiration that caused me create Allah Loves Kindness. Below is the video I watched of an interview she did with Penn State's Public Broadcasting. Ms. Mattson is very involved in Islam. She is head of Christian Muslim Relations at Hartford Seminary and also is currently president of Islamic Society of North America.

Insh'Allah, I will spend the next week or so posting my thoughts and responses about the topics discussed during the interview.

In the Name of God, Infinitely Merciful, Tenderly Compassionate

How many hadith have I read where the prophet, peace be upon him, tells us to be kind, peace loving, giving, compassionate, helpful, friendly, tolerant, gentle, forgiving, charitable? If you think Islam is about war and misogyny and oppression, you don't know Islam. And this blog is here to teach you the truth.

This blog is my gift to Allah. I pray it will be a bridge to peace. I thank Ingrid Mattson for motivating me and challenging me to start this blog.
